Below is an explanation of how data obtained through the on-line registration form will be used, and how the confidentiality of such data is protected.

The what, how and why of data collection

The data is collected via personal subscription and selected lists of contacts that are publicly available and serve the purpose of disseminating information on the subject of non-discrimination.

All subscribers are required to enter the following data into the contacts database: Name and surname, organisation name, organisation type, country and e-mail. By providing details of: address, postcode, town,– you will be able to receive relevant publications by post.

This compulsory information is needed to enable the subscriber to be sent information electronically (the primary purpose of the database) and to enable the database managers to monitor subscription levels by country and by organisation type.

Access to the data

Authorised personnel from the European Commission’s service provider (BBI International and Mostra) and the Unit for Action against discrimination, Civil society have access to the data collected and have sole authority to read and correct it in the event of input error.

When subscribers complete the address information, these details will be passed on to the Office for Official Publications of the European Communities to send out publications.

Privacy and data protection

All personal data will be treated in strictest confidence and in compliance with EU legislation (Directive 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 July 2002 concerning the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector).

Personal data will not be passed on to third parties without your prior consent.

Checking, changing or deleting data

If your personal information changes, or if you no longer require our services, you can correct or update your details, or unsubscribe from the database. This can be done directly on-line or by sending an e-mail to info@equalitynews.eu

Period for which data are kept

The information in the database is kept only for as long as it is needed for its intended purpose. In this case, this means for as long as the Unit Action against discrimination, Civil society continues to send out free information material by e-mail.
